In our commitment to financial transparency, we publish a financial report available each year in the springtime to provide an overview of the church's finances.
Denver United family,
Last year was a time of focusing, consolidating, and beginning to build anew. As the turmoil of the preceding years in our nation began to settle, our church experienced a welcome return to stability. Highlighted by a simple, central emphasis on becoming disciples of Jesus, 2023 saw the church level out financially and begin to grow again. Each month of the fourth quarter exceeded budgeted income, a trend that continued into 2024. This is a testimony of God’s faithfulness and yours. Thank you for believing in Jesus’s church and building toward his kingdom together.
2023 was marked by unprecedented engagement. Across the board, we moved away from passive attendance and toward active response to Jesus’ invitation to follow him. A higher percentage of us embraced living in intentional community than ever in our history. You said yes to serving our neighbors who live close to society’s margins and reached toward the people you intersect daily with the love of Jesus and radical hospitality. With greater focus than ever, you responded by God’s grace to his mandate to live with Jesus, live in family, and live on mission.
Coming out of a volatile economic time, the year began up-and-down for us financially before settling into more predictability. Overall, we finished 2023 with income just ahead of projection and expenses slightly over budget; overages owed principally to unplanned maintenance in the facility and audio/visual realms, for which we maintain cash reserves. Through the adjustments and efficiencies this era has asked of us, we have never wavered in our commitment to our local and global missions partners or our conviction to prioritize a tithe of the church’s collective income. Below, you’ll see last year’s financial report along with an overview of our 2024 budget.
As we continue to recover and find our financial footing in the post-pandemic era, our staff and trustees maintain a steadfast commitment to financial transparency and careful stewardship of the resources God entrusts. Thank you for faithfully, generously, and sacrificially investing in the good work God is doing within our church family, in the city of Denver, and around the world. If you would like to know more about the church’s finances or business practice, we would be delighted to discuss them with you.
We love you and thank God for you,
Rob and Mauri Brendle
